Handira Cushions are handcrafted in Morocco by our master Artisans using wool and cotton and then adorned with silver sequins. They will give your interior a beautiful bohemian and unique touch.
Handira cushions are made from Handira blankets or Berber wedding blankets. These blankets are traditionally hand woven by the bride’s female relatives and are usually made from sheep wool, cotton and linen. It can take many hours up to several weeks even, to make these blankets and attach the hundreds of mirrored sequins. During the process of crafting this wedding blanket, the bride's relatives will tell the bride-to-be stories about married life and give her advice on the new chapter she will embark on.
After the wedding ceremony, the bride wears the blanket over her shoulders as a kind of cape to her marital home.
